Volunteers of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds share their expertise, time and talents with the students by accompanying them in the educational process as tutors. This relationship encourages the students to stay in their program of study.

NDEC's volunteers come from various neighborhoods within the greater Boston area. At present, we have 45 volunteers working with students one-on-one or in a classroom setting. Our volunteers are a precious asset to our Center.

To become an NDEC Volunteer, contact Arlene Vallie at avallie@ndecboston.org or at (617) 268-1912.

Volunteers are young men and women who give at least one year of service to NDEC teaching in the Adult Literacy, GED, and ESOL programs. They are an integral and dynamic part of  the learning process of the students and bring to the Center the gifts of their passion, their energy, and their laughter.

Boston's Notre Dame AmeriCorps is housed at the NDEC, and coordinated by Catherine O'Brien, SND. Contact Sr. Catherine at cobrien@ndecboston.org or at (617) 268-1912.
